Treasurer, Former Instructor, and Founder:

Shannon La Plante Huelsman

Shannon began taking Irish Step Dancing lessons in 1999 at the age of 18 with the O’Riada School of Irish Dance in Kansas City, Missouri. She then moved to Lexington, Kentucky in the fall of 2000 and began dancing with the Lexington Irish Dancers.  She continued with the Lexington Irish Dancers until 2012 when moving to Louisville and having a family proved too much to continue the weekly commute for classes.  She danced informally with local dancers in the interim and in January 2013 formed the Louisville Irish Dancers as the sister school to the Lexington Irish Dancers.  Shannon's "day job" is working as a Physician Assistant family practice provider in the Audubon area. Due to injury she is unable to continue dancing with us for a time, but continues to support the group in other ways.

Shannon and her husband Christopher have been married for 12 years. She has four boys, Aidan, Robert, Justin, and Luke.
